An Acceptable Candidate Need Not Belong to the Input-Sensitive Top Group
Abstract
Good-enough selection defines adequacy externally, while top-group membership can move with uncertain inputs. The two tasks should be compared only after their terminal objects are aligned. Evaluation varies tolerances and inputs separately and includes later-stage checking costs, preventing a relaxed adequacy task from being mistaken for more efficient precise ranking. This focused synthesis develops an empirical comparison that preserves the terminal action, observation process, and total verification cost. Its proposed tests are prospective; no new simulation run, model-training result, or intervention effect is reported.
